When did you discover synthwave?
I was late to the party. When the genre was just getting off the ground in 2011, I was getting into Deadmau5 and finding ways to integrate EDM elements into my music, culminating in the release of Adjustments in 2016.
Little did I know that right under my nose, producers were making music much closer to my heart, and finding an audience for it!
I don’t remember how I found out about synthwave. I still haven’t seen the movie Drive, so that wasn’t it! But when I did, I immediately set my sights on crafting an authentic synthwave album. In a way, it was a return to my roots.
The Majesty of Our Broken Past documents the 80s I grew up in: wonderful, even magical at times, yet wistfully desolate.
