April income totaled $883, about the same as last month. $351 was from Second Thoughts, which I’m not tracking, since it’s an EP and not a true album. $20 was from t-shirts, which are slowly but surely selling out. I don’t know if I’ll ever make more. They’re a hassle to pack and send, and not exactly in great demand. Not included in the monthly total is a $100 Amazon gift certificate that I received as a prize for “We’re Not Getting Any Younger” winning the electronic category at OurStage.
Subtracting out the EP and t-shirts, I took in $512 in album sales, which is a 25% increase from March. Sales were roughly split in thirds between my latest, The Thought Chapter, my Depeche Mode tribute, Color Theory presents Depeche Mode, and the other five albums. That brings the total of physical CDs I’ve sold or otherwise parted with to 5,290. For more details, see my running tally of profit/loss figures for each album.
Normally digital sales eclipse physical sales, but this month they accounted for only 30% of the total. The reason is that the limited edition physical EP stimulated sales of my back catalog. In fact, three or four people ordered all eight releases (the seven albums plus the EP). There are only about 20 copies of the EP left, so I’m anticipating a big drop in sales for May, perhaps by as much as half.
