Surprise! I didn’t actually drop off the face of the earth. I’ve been monumentally busy with two mixing projects. I finished the first a couple weeks ago – the new Die Brücke album.
Expecting it to sound like Color Theory? Perhaps, like with Al Jourgensen of Ministry, there’s an angry beast inside me clawing to get out. Probably not. I’m not good with genres, but I suppose “dark industrial rock” is a fair description. Each song has 40-50 tracks. The trick was finding a place in the mix for each of them, so that the elements of the song supported each other, rather than competing for attention. I’m delighted with how it turned out. It promises to be a great album, both sonically and musically.
I’m only two songs in on the second project, an EP from an eclectic acoustic singer-songwriter in the vein of Lisa Loeb, who goes by 907Britt. Beyond mixing, I’ve recorded piano and drum parts, and may even sing backup on a song or two.
I’ve committed most of my working hours for the next couple of weeks to Britt’s EP, but I’ll continue to post status updates on Facebook and Twitter. Feel free to add/follow me if you’re not already.
