Two new songs are available for free download to fans on my mailing list:
Echo of a Star (demo) – About five years ago, Craig Smidt of Kiss the Star sang a song idea into his cassette recorder. My job was to flesh it out into a full-blown arrangement. I creating a piano/vocal demo, which I presented to the band for their approval. They liked it, and built the rest of the mix around it, substituting Craig’s vocals for my own in the final version, which you can hear on Kiss the Star’s MySpace page.
Zero Crossing v1 – One of my favorite songs from The Thought Chapter almost didn’t make it on the album. The original version was simply too quirky, with echoed drums and an upright piano playing a bouncy octave bassline. In a last-ditch effort to salvage the track, I constructed an entirely different arrangement, which is the one you hear on the album.
