Can’t Wait for the Night

by Brian Hazard on September 21, 2009

Ruslan Tagirov aka Inbox

I’ve got one last collaboration to share with you – an oldie but goody that has yet to see the light of day. The song is from the upcoming Inbox album Standing on a Bridge. Inbox is the musical alter ego of Ruslan Tagirov, a producer/remixer from Yekaterinburg, situated in the Urals region of Russia. Ruslan contacted me back in 2005 to write lyrics and record vocals for two songs, which he already had basic concepts for. “Can’t Wait for the Night” is about how he couldn’t wait to get home from his IT job to work on music. Despite his insistence, I managed to avoid using the term “IT” in the lyrics. I think you’ll agree the song is better for it.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

I also recorded vocals for a third song, “Obsession.” You can hear it on Ruslan’s MySpace page.

Can’t Wait For the Night
©2005 Ruslan Tagirov & Brian Hazard (ASCAP)

My eyes are slaves to the computer screen
Forty hours a week
Stuck in this routine
But I relax and leave the facts and figures at the door
To lead a secret life
Of rhymes and metaphors

Every day I can’t wait for the night to take me home
Where I can write another song
Until the daylight reappears
No you know I can’t wait for the night where music lives
All around
All around
Open my heart to find you there

The stars are shining on my new career
They look down on me
When the skies are clear
With every draft I hone my craft pursuing sleeplessly
The perfect melody
Words like poetry

Can’t wait for the night
I can’t wait for the night
Can’t wait for the night to write another song.

Thanks! Maybe your words of encouragement will inspire Ruslan to release the album soon. :)

absolutely wonderful, and the lengthy intro i thought was great rather than detract from the song (which i sometimes personally find with lengthy intros). would love to hear more by ruslan. nice work, and yes…not using IT certainly was a good idea brian :)

Sounds like my day! I’m curious where “IT” fit in originally.

Hi guys.
Thanks for the comments.

BTW, i did not insist upon the term ‘IT’! :^)

So, when I’ll finish all the things related to my new apartment in Eaketerinburg, I’ll manage to release the album (hope so).
