First, the bad news: I didn’t win. That honor went to Faded Paper Figures. Of course, it was great just to be nominated. And I’m not just saying that – I didn’t realize it was such a big deal! The awards ceremony was like the Emmys or Grammys, with celebrity hosts, live performances, and slick graphics supplementing a live television feed (though I’m not sure if it was broadcast, or just for the monitors throughout the venue). It’s probably for the best that I didn’t have to improvise an acceptance speech in front of a packed concert venue.
That said, a couple of good things came out of the event, beyond a rare night out with my wife. First off, Music Writer extraordinaire Robert Kinsler quoted me in the Orange County Register, and did me the extra favor of mentioning my win in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. You can read the whole article here. I’d appreciate it if you could click on the “Recommend” link near the top of the page, right below the headline.
And secondly, “If It’s My Time to Go” was included on a downloadable compilation featuring the nominees in all categories, courtesy of LoudBytes. Everyone who attended the ceremony received a card, so my song could potentially be heard by thousands of local music fans.

Hi Brian,
It was indeed an honor to be nominated for an award at this event.
Congratulations on that honor and also for the night out with your wife !
Also, read the article in the link to the OC Register and it really had so much to say about you and your song in The Lennon Contest.
Great stuff ! Glad to hear that you are getting your name out there and more people will be hearing your wonderful music .
All the best,
Edith
